Aleksei Alekseevich Brusilov was a Russian general in the First World War, successively holding the posts of commander of the 8th Army, commander the south-western front and supreme commander in chief.After the Bolshevik’s ascent to power, he was arrested, but was soon freed and joined the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army. This article is a short biography of the general, with an emphasis on his political and military activity.
