    Christian Albert Theodor Billroth, an Austrian surgeon and amateur musician of German origin, is widely regarded as the father and founder of modern abdominal surgery.

    Christian Albert Theodor Billroth was born on April 26, 1829, in Bergen auf Rügen, Kingdom of Prussia.

    He studied at a school in the university town of Greifswald and then attended the University of Greifswald to study medicine. He later followed Professor Wilhelm Baum to the University of Göttin
